We got a puppy! Sunita Girl has been quite busy with the recent addition to our family. Introducing Miss Skyla.

She’s a Miniature Sheepadoodle. Her mom is an Old English Sheepdog and her dad is a Miniature Poodle.
When it came to making our choice we wanted to get a dog that is low shedding and hypoallergenic.
Happy to report Skyla hardly sheds. I shed much more than she does.
We also wanted a dog who wasn’t too big or too small. JT didn’t want a little yapper dog and I didn’t want anything too huge for our apartment. Skyla should grow to be between 25-50 lbs.
Also JT wanted a smart, easy to train, attentive dog. OES and poodles are quite smart and so is our little puppy. Sometimes that can cause problems if she gets bored though.
She is JT’s first dog so I wanted him to experience the whole growing up phase and I wanted as much number of years with her as possible. We ended up getting her from an AKC registered breeder since we wanted those criteria met instead of going with a shelter dog. It took a lot of research to make sure she came from a happy and healthy place instead of a puppy mill. We also like her colors, black and white with one blue and one brown eye.
So far she’s pretty happy and fun to play with at home. Very smart and already knows sit and down. Only bad thing is she is kinda bitey with both of us only. Not vicious attack us but play nipping at us when she wants to play or needs to go potty. Like some kind of puppy alligator lol. We’re hoping she grows out of it especially when she gets her adult teeth.
The breeder had her crate trained when we got her at 8 weeks old which was super helpful for getting her to go potty outside. Skyla loves tearing up any paper she can find. She’s little Miss Popular whenever we take her out. Friendly with everyone; never bites them. Surprisingly lots of guys like her. I thought she would be too poofy looking for them. Yet they say things like “Oh! You have a beautiful dog.” lol She is very unique looking here in Florida though. Haven’t seen any other Sheepadoodles yet. We want to get her AKC S.T.A.R. puppy certified and signed up for puppy class at PetCo which is going well so far. Gives her a chance to become more socialized with other puppies.
It’s pretty amazing to see how fast she grows. When we got her at 8 weeks she was 6.1 lbs at 14 weeks she’s now 12 lbs.
